Light and Dark

There are no shadows here
And because no shadows
No distinction of form
No direction of light to trace to source
Hands straight at my sides
Light dim in my eyes
I stand perpendicular to the world
Its menacing velocity
Sandpaper hands caress porcelain flesh
Feed solidly epoxied to concrete conveyor
Moving too quickly
Scenery flashing by
Front to back
Side to side
Rotations persist
Earth sun and stars
I float along into space
Too many words
Thoughts tainted with clean air and filtered water
Return me to brick dust warehouse
And back alley rat infest
Dancing with the shadows
Projected by the glow of the streetlight
